Who says starting over was easy?
I moved a few times in my life, and every time that I moved it was not easy.
I was a Hurricane Katrina victim, born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Then I moved to Georgia for a year after the hurricane, then again to Texas permanently with my family. It was the most difficult time of my life because I was just a teenager then, just trying to adjust in life.
I was just entering high school when the hurricane impacted New Orleans, then I had to get up and leave everything I ever knew behind, the place I call home, and all the people I grew up with. So no, starting over is not easy but it does get easier.
Life didn’t end there for me.
Like this quote by Napolean Hill,
“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”
I wouldn’t say Hurricane Katrina was the best thing that happen in my life, but I would say that it did open new doors and opportunities that allowed me to achieve what I am today. Because of this adversity, I learn to take on whatever is coming my way.
And now I’m in San Francisco starting all over again, but this time it’s voluntary.
I’ve got to say, I’ve come along way…and I’ve met so many great people along the way! I kept in touch with some of my good childhood friends from New Orleans, but also made everlasting friendships and relationship (my fiance) back in Texas. And now living in San Francisco, I’ve made special bonds through fashion blogging and really learned to put myself out there to meet new people and take on new opportunities.
All in all, life doesn’t end at adversity. Overcome it and prepare for the next. Because life is what it is, unpredictable.
