Welcome to BeautyCon LA 2016! This was my first time going and I didn’t know what to expect. Since it was my first time, I didn’t want to splurge on a VIP pass and just bought the General Admission. Now that I live in Cali, I thought why not? I wanted to go and see what’s all the hype about.
For general admission, doors open at noon. My first impression when I got there? The line to enter was ridiculously long! It extended from outside the convention center onto the sidewalks by the streets. And guess what? The lines don’t end there! Once you enter, there was pretty much a line for every booth. The longest line was definitely Lime Crime. We waited almost 2 hours in this line!
Was it worth it? Probably not. What did we get for waiting in line? Discounted merchandise and a free unicorn lippie. I bought the Velvetines at $16 each. I also checked their website that day and they were selling the velvetines also for $16 each now back to regular retail price at $20. So yes, I could have bought the lippies online and skip the line that day. But then I wouldn’t have gotten my free unicorn lippie!
I felt like I spent most of my time waiting in lines I didn’t get to meet much of the famous people and Bloggers/Vloggers there. We were there pretty much from opening to closing time and yet I still didn’t get to go to every booth.
After all that waiting, we definitely needed to make time to eat! So we headed out to the food trucks area. And of course the lines never stop.
Then back in to check out some other booths!
We got to skip the line and tried some of their products. This was a fun experience. They gave us these lip masks and we placed it on our lips for 15mins to moisturize our lips. Then we headed over to their beauty chairs and they let us try their lip tints that lasted all day!
The next booth we checked out was NCLA:
We headed here because we were attracted to their seashell photo prop.
I have never heard of this brand before and I bought one of their HOLOS nail lacquers, the last siren and LOVEDDD it! I regret not buying more because their retail price is $16 for nail polish. I bought it for $8.
BeautyCon was fun! I would definitely go again. Hopefully with a game plan next time so I can experience more brands and meet more people.
And special shoutout to my fiance (Hassaan) and my cousin (Anthony) for tagging along to keep me and MakeUp.Mai company!
After a long day, we hit up LACMA lights to end our day.
